Waitiri Creek Chardonnay 2012

Made from Chardonnay vines planted in 1994, this wine shows lifted notes of passionfruit and tropical fruits including pineapple and guava on both the nose and in the very soft and accessible palate. Well integrated older French Oak provides a well balanced backdrop to this young wine, which will reveal further layers with time in the bottle. more close
Hand harvested grapes were whole bunch pressed and cold settled over night before racking to seasoned French Oak barrels. The wine was then cool fermented using both commercial and indigenous yeasts. This Chardonnay spent 11 months in barrel and underwent 100% malolactic fermentation with minimal lees stirring. The finished wine was then racked and sterile filtered prior to bottling on 5 April 2013.
